Faith Isn’t a Side Hustle. It’s either All or Nothing.
I couldn't help but ask myself… how many of us are treating faith like a side hustle instead of the foundation of our lives?
You know, something we do on the side while chasing everything else we think will make us happy? We make a cameo at church every so often, post a Bible verse on our story, and thank God when things go right. But when it comes to truly surrendering, walking in obedience, and cutting off the things that pull us away from Him… suddenly, we’re hesitant.
Let’s be real, you can’t serve two masters. Jesus made it plain:
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” (Matthew 6:24)
That means you can’t live for Jesus and still hold onto the world. You can’t say you trust Him but still manipulate situations to get your way. You can’t claim holiness while entertaining sin behind closed doors. You can’t pick and choose which parts of the Bible apply to you and which ones you’re going to ignore. God is not an accessory to your life. He IS your life.
Lukewarm? God Will Spit You Out
I know, I know. This sounds harsh. But the truth isn’t always comfortable. Some of us need to wake up and realize that lukewarm faith is dangerous. Jesus didn’t sugarcoat it:
“So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16)
Imagine standing before God one day, thinking you’re good because you did the bare minimum, only for Him to say, “I never knew you. Depart from me.” (Matthew 7:23). That’s terrifying. And guess what? It should be.
The fear of the Lord isn’t about being scared of Him like He’s waiting to punish you. It’s about having deep reverence and understanding that He is holy, sovereign, and not to be played with.
Watch Who You’re Connected To
Let’s talk about the people in your life for a second. Some of us are holding on to relationships that are keeping us bound. Whether it’s a friend, a relationship, or even family members who constantly pull you into sin, you have to ask yourself: Are they leading me toward God or away from Him?
If you’ve been feeling like God is trying to separate you from certain people, listen to Him. Stop trying to force friendships that no longer align. Stop going back to relationships that only feed your flesh. Not everyone is meant to go where God is taking you.
The Bible warns us:
“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” (1 Corinthians 15:33)
And let’s be real, some of us KNOW deep down that certain people are dragging us into mess. We keep justifying it, saying, “Oh, but they’re not that bad,” or “I can handle it.” No, sis. You can’t handle what God told you to walk away from.
Some connections feel comfortable because they’re familiar, but they’re actually keeping you from stepping into what God has for you. Let Him prune your circle. You don’t need approval from people who are leading you straight into destruction.
Worldly Living Leads to Death, Literally
The world glamorizes sin, rebellion, and self-indulgence. Culture will have you thinking,
• “It’s my body, my choice.”
• “God knows my heart.”
• “I can repent later.”
Sis, the enemy loves this kind of thinking because it keeps you bound.
The Bible warns us:
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
The things we normalize: casual sex, drunkenness, chasing money over purpose, gossiping, living for social media validation; all lead to spiritual destruction. Satan doesn’t always come dressed in red with horns; sometimes, he shows up as a compromise that feels harmless.
Dying to Self Is the Only Way to Live
Here’s the truth: Following Jesus means giving up your old ways. No more straddling the fence, no more justifying sin, no more trying to make God fit into your plans. It’s full surrender.
Paul said it best:
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20)
It’s time to stop treating God like a backup plan and make Him the only plan.
Let’s Talk About It
I want to hear from you. Where do you stand in your walk with Jesus? Have you been all in, or are there areas where you’ve been holding back?
Drop a comment below and let’s discuss. No judgment!
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Matthew 7:1-2)
